Peter Sam from Thomas & Friends

Peter Sam is a steam locomotive who works on Mr. Percival's Narrow Gauge Railway. He is modeled after a narrow gauge industrial tank engine built in the 1920's in England and is a kind and happy engine. Peter Sam was originally painted green from the the Mid Sodor Railway and his nameplate displays his number 4 but he has also appeared painted in red with blue lining in the Skarloey Railway books.

Trivia

Peter Sam was originally known as Stuart but when he arrived at Sir Topham Hatt's railway his name was changed. His funnel is somewhat special; it's called a giesl ejector because it allows him to carry heavier loads. The original funnel was knocked off in a tunnel from an icicle. He has made appearances in The Magic Lamp, Special Funnel and, Mountain Marvel. Peter Sam visited the Talyllyn Railway in the Railway Series books.
