Derek the diesel engine from Thomas & Friends

Derek a large Diesel engine works at the quarries and clay mines close to Brendam Docks. He is good friends with Bill and Ben when they met at The Works. Sometimes Derek has teething troubles from his cooling system often failing.

Trivia

Derek is modeled after a British Rail Class 17 Bo-Bo diesel electric locomotive often nick named Claytons. Derek is also called a Paxman diesel because of the type of engine he carries.
