Edward the Blue Engine from Thomas & Friends

Edward the Blue Engine is one of the older and wiser engines on Sir Topham Hatt's railway. He is a blue 4-4-0 tender engine with red stripes and he is No. 2. Edward is a very kind engine and when other engines misbehave Sir Topham Hatt requests Edward to restore order on the railway.

Edward is a member of the Steam Team, which includes Toby, Henry, Gordon, James, Percy, and Thomas.

Trivia

Edward shares a branch line with BoCo, a diesel engine. He made is firs appearance in 1945 and was featured in 1954 in his own book called Edward the Blue Engine. Edward is known as a mixed traffic engine because he can pull freight or passengers.

He also likes to help other engines with heavy loads. Younger engines rely on him to listen and for advice.
